About the Artist

Danai is an Athens based visual artist. Her art focuses on the contradictions within oneself, highlighting the coping mechanisms learned and the masking of mental health issues. The sensual themes, the vibrant use of colours and the stylization influenced by urban art and pop culture, work as a distraction to the issues that lie underneath. The chaos of depression, the suffocating feeling from anxiety, the coldness from loneliness. Issues who are known to many but can be masked by other aspects of life such as sexual expression ,social functionality and a pop of colour.
